Creating with nature is a hallmark of being Human.
Since 2007, I have been crafting bespoke jewelry and sculptures that reflect both the fleeting eccentricities of nature, and the measured design of human-made aesthetics. These influences, and the time I spent working in the field, ultimately lead me to a realization: almost every piece of design or art on the market was in danger of being “ripped off,” by low-cost, low-effort impersonators.
But it occurred to me one morning, pacing the shoreline, observing the glittering pile of seashells at my feet, that there was always one artist who turned out unique, one-of-a-kind, objects, every day, and the “rip-offs” always leave you wanting: Nature.
In a market that values endlessly-reproducible, cheaply-made commodities, it has become a personal and professional passion to create wearable and observable designs that speak to the heart of human existence.
Simply put: I aim to create timeless works that are unique, well-made, and ultimately, completely irreplaceable, like you; like every natural, finite, resource.
I want to encourage those who purchase these special pieces to approach them with curiosity, to wear or gift them with joy, and to let them remind you of the fragile and priceless nature of existence.
Thank you to all who have helped to make this very important project a reality.
I hope you grow to love these pieces as much as I do.

Every element of each Ontologica creation is hand-selected, hand detailed, and assembled with care; each, unique, detail is part of the process, and no two pieces can ever be exactly alike. By combining, rough, raw materials, with fine art, couture, jewelry design, every item is a sheer work of style and the environment.
Raw Shell
Wampum (Quahog clams), whelks, moon snail shells, cockles, and oysters are just a few of the species of shell used.
Insect Wings
It might sound icky, but the appearance is enchanting. Ethically-sourced cicadas, dragonflies, and others are among the types useable for this purpose.
Flowers
Many flowers are too delicate to endure the process used to preserve samples, but roses and baby’s breath are sturdy enough to make an appearance in this work.
Gold & Silver Leaf
This 22 and 24-karat gold and silver leaf are some of the highest quality available, and are laid and shaped carefully and painstakingly through a variety of handheld tools; due to the lack of refinement and less enchanting look, alloy metal leaf is rarely used in my work, but is available upon request for budget custom projects.
Crystals and Gems
Swarovski crystals, natural glass & stone beads, and precious/semi-precious gems are used to adorn classic pieces, for a higher-end quality.
Leaves
If Autumn is a season you wish you could freeze in time, look no further; I source and encase East Coast autumn leaves for truly unique pendants and ornaments to last through November and beyond.
